Alexandria - Mrs. Rose Cooksey, 79, mother of Mrs. Irene Jackson, expired at her daughter's home, 214 N. West St., at 5 a.m. Tuesday following an illness of four months. Mrs. Cooksey came to Alexandria three weeks ago from Spencer, Ind., where she was a life-long resident of Owen County. She was a daughter of Hiram and Emma Holley Keller, and was born in Owen County on Oct. 10, 1878. She was married in the same county to Elza Cooksey in 1898. He died in 1956. Mrs. Cooksey was a member of the Carolina Baptist Church, in Owen County. Surviving, in addition to the daughter in Alexandria, are: eight sons: Roy, of Crawfordsville; Herman and Alvin, of Winnabago; Austin, of Waveland; Frank of Spencer, Cecil and Lawrence, of Bloomfield, and Earl Cooksey, of Plainfield; three other daughters, Mrs. Gladys Kay, of Spencer; Mrs. Elma Vanderventer, of Stinesville, and Mrs. Ina Sheese, of Gosport. Other survivors include: two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Stein, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. Ada Fisher, of Michigan; one brother, Lawrence Keller, of Arkansas; 29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Davis and Stricler Funeral Home where arrangements are pending.
