CARL COON (sometimes found as Coons)

Carl W, son of Calvin L, and Cora Wade Coon, was born Sept 18, 1906 near Wingate where he spent his entire life. For the past 3 months he had been in the employ of the US postal service at Lafayette where he was taken ill at his work Wednesday of last week. His condition baflled physicians at first, but later they pronounced the trouble as meningitis and the end came at 2 o'clock Tuesday morning. The body was brought home from the hospital and funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the Christian Church with Rev. Frazier and Rev. Cortner in charge. Interment was made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The pall bearers were Bernard Johnson, Ora Westfall, Forest Murdock, Roy Meharry, Herman Renick and Lee Haxton. Margaret and Imogene Johnson, Marguerite Meharry and Gladys Singleton were the flower bearers. Carl was a member of the Christian Church and was a highly respected young man. He was a graduate of Wingate HS call of 25 had served 3 years in the National Guard and had been putting forth every effort to make good at his position in the postal service department. His mother and an infant sister preceded him in death. He leaves his father, sister Mildred, brother Fern, grandmother Wade, grandfather and grandmother Coon, six uncles, two aunts and a host of other relatives and friends. - kbz
