Wingate - Clarence William (Whitey) Coon, 85, died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville after an illness of 8 days. Mr. Coon had been a farmer in the Wingate area for many years before moving to Crawfordsville. There he worked for a brick company. He attended Wingate school and wa s member of the Pleasant HIll Christian Church. A native of the Wingate area, he was born Aug 31, 1881, a son of Wm. and CatherineKoon Coon. He was married to Unis Williams in New Richmond in November of 1911. Surviving are a son, Richard principal of Southwestern School in Lafayette; two brother, Clifford and Clyde, both of near WIngate; a sister, Mrs.Cora Herron of near Crawfordsville and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1956 and two brothers, Chris and Cal. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Servies Funeral Home in Wayneotwn with Rev. Scott Comrie officiating. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. - kbz
