Wingate - Clifford Van "Reddy" Coon, 85, of Rt. 1, Wingate, died at his home northwest of Elmdale at 6 p.m. Sunday. He had been in failing health for some time and seriously ill a week. Born near Wingate, June 4, 1883, he was the son of William S. and Mary (Koon) Coon. On March 18, 1908, he was married to Lena I. Thompson. In March 1909, they moved to the home where he farmed until failing health caused him to retire. He was a graduate of Wingate High School and taught school before his marriage. Mr. Coon was a member of Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ, a charter member of Tipmont REMC, and charter member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation District. He was preceded in death by his wife and two infant daughters, Edith Mae and Atha Lucile. Three brothers also are deceased. Surviving are a son, David and wife Marilyn; three grandsons, David, Robert and William; a granddaughter, Lynn; a brother, Clyde "Buck" Coon of near Wingate, and a sister, Mrs. Cora Herron of Rt. 6, Crawfordsville. Friends may call at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Tuesday. The body will lie in state at the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ for an hour preceding the services which will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Richard Reahard will officiate. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Wingate. The family requests contributions to the Heart Fund in Lieu of flowers. - - Wingate, Ind. - Clifford (Reddy) Coon, 85, of Wingate, died at 6 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 1, 1968) at his home. He had been seriously ill a week. Born June 4, 1883 near Elmdale, he was the son of William S. and Mary Koon Coon. He married Lena Thompson on March 18, 1908 at Crawfordsville. She preceded him in death in February, 1967. He was a charter member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, the Tipmont REMC, the Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation Department. He was a graduate of Wingate High and had taught school prior to his marriage. He had lived at the same address since 1909. Surviving are a son, David of Wingate Route 1, a sister, Mrs. Cora Herron of Crawfordsville Route 6; a brother, Clyde of Wingate, and four grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ with the Rev. Richard Rehard officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown after 7 tonight. The body will be taken to the church one hour before services.

Richard Reahard of New Richmond officiating. Mrs. Karen Smith, at the organ, played the requested hymns, "One Day," "Abide With Me" and "When They Ring Those Golden Bells" and other selections. Assisting with flowers were Mrs. Rodney Thompson, Mrs. Harold Thompson, Mrs. Kenneth Whipple, Mrs. Robert Rutledge, Mrs. Charles Herron, Mary Coon, Mrs. Helen Jolliff, Mrs. Estel Cheek and Mrs. Francis Coon. The pallbearers were Clifton Coon, Claude Coon, Francis Coon, Eugene Coon, Richard Coon, Estel Cheek, Harold Thompson and Rodney Thompson. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
