Wingate - Mrs. Pearl (Bodkin) Coon, 78, died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in her home 2 1/2 miles southwest of here. She had been ill three weeks. She was born near Wingate, and in 1905 was married to Christopher J. Coon of Wingate, who died in 1929. She had lived in the same home since her marriage. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church and a charter member of the Wingate unit of American Legion Auxiliary Post 174. Surviving are four sons, Claude of Veedersburg, Clifton of Rt. 1, Wingate, Eugene at home and Francis of Rt. 1, Cloverdale, and one daughter, Miss Mary Coon, also at home.
- - Monday 12 July 1965 - - Wingate - Mrs. Pearl Coon, 78, who had lived near Wingate most of her life, died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday at her home southwest of here. She had been ailing three weeks. A member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church and a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary No. 174 at Wingate, she was born March 11, 1887, in Wingate to George W. and Julie Ann Springer Bodkin. She married Christopher J. Coon Dec. 20, 1905. He died in 1929. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Mary Coon at home; four sons, Claude of near Veedersburg, Clifton of Rt. 1 Wingate, Eugene at home and Francis of Rt. 1 Cloverdale; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson and a nephew. She was preceded in death by a brother Clyde. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. Homer Hunsinger officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Wingate. Friends may call at the funeral home.
- - Wingate - Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Coon were held Tuesday afternoon at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. Homer Hunsinger of Lebanon was the minister in charge. Mrs. Nellie Snyder, organist, played requested numbers, "In The Garden" and "Beyond The Sunset" and accompanied Marion Bodkin, a nephew of the deceased, as he sang "Sunrise Tomorrow." Serving as pallbearers and assisting with the flowers were David Coon, Estel Cheek, Charles Herron and Richard Coon, Earl Smith Jr., Hal Hopper and Lester Murdock. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. - kbz
