Elmer J. Coons of 706 E. Market St. died at Culver hospital Thursday morning after an illness of several months. He was 75 and was a retired employee of the Presto-Lite Co. at Indianapolis and Vincennes. He was born Aug. 6, 1889 in Montgomery county. His parents were John R. and Laura Clark Coons. He was married Dec. 16, 1911 to Ruth Bonnette. Mr. Coons was a member of the Baptist church, the Moose Lodge at Vincennes, and was with Presto-Lite at Indianapolis several years and at Vincennes 16 years before retiring seven years ago. Survivors include a brother Omer Coons of Crawfordsville; a son, Earl Coons of Grand Forks, N.D.; two nieces, Mrs. Earl Berry of Crawfordsville and Mrs. John Fruth of Speedway; two nephews, Ernest Coons and Eldon Coons of Brownsburg.; two grandsons and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Milo Riggs officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.

Funeral services for Elmer J. Coons were held Saturday afternoon in the Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Milo Riggs of the First Baptist church officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers and assisting with the floral tributes were Homer Hancock, James Coons, Oliver Oltman, Kenneth Howard, James Wooldridge and Donald Carrell. Selections were played on the organ by Mrs. O. C. Edwards.
