Mrs. Jane Coons, widow of William S. Coons, passed away Monday morning at 3 o'clock at the home of her son, W. H. Coons, on west Main street, from the after effects of double pneumonia, being unable to overcome the ravages of the disease. Mrs. Coons was the daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth Vancleave, who settled on a farm two miles west of New Market. She had lived in or near that community all of her life with the exception of a few years spent in this city. Mrs. Coons was born January 29, 1837, and was past eighty years of age at the lime of her death. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Sloan Stevens, John R. Coons of this city, Caroline Jones of Short., Miss., W.H. Coons of this city, Mr. Luther Douglas of Carlyle Mont.; Mrs. W.V. McCormick of.this city. She is survived by one brother, Ransom Vancleave, of New Market, and one sister, Mrs. Emma Badgley, of Muskegon, Mich. The funeral will be held at the home of W. H. Coons, 1208 east Main street at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. - kbz
