LEBANON - Services were conducted today for Mary Frances Coons, 82, of Lebanon. She died at 9:50 p.m. Friday in St. Vincent's Hospital at Indianapolis. Mrs. Coons moved to Lebanon from Advance m 1958 and had resided at the Parkwood Nursing Home five years. She was born near New Ross on April 20, 1905, to George T. and Maude Moss Sperry. Her husband, John Henry Coons, died in 1957. Mrs. Coons taught school at Bowers, Tinnell and Granville Wells 31 years before her retirement in 1973. She was a graduate of Jamestown, High School and Indiana University. She was a member of the Central Christian Church at Lebanon and taught the What-So-Ever Sunday School Class. She was a1so a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, University Women's Club, Sigma Delta Pi, Florentine Club, Business and Professional Women’s Club, Travel Club and was a Witham Hospital Volunteer. She is survived by two daughters, Connie Batts of Rt. 1, Jamestown and Carolyn McCarty of New Castle; seven grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. A brother, Fulton Sperry, is deceased. The Rev. Raymond Duff officiated at 1 p.m. service Monday and burial followed in Pisgah Cemetery.
