Source: Waveland Independent newspaper, Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana Feb 10, 1905

Jeremiah Conners, who formerly lived here was killed by a train at Memphis, Tenn last Wednesday. While here he married Lottie, the adopted daughter of Mrs. Margaret Rhoda. They had six children. A few months ago he desserted his family who have since been in destitute circumstances. The two older daughters are now in the girls' industrial school at Indianapolis. It is a very sad story. -- kbz

The Danville police Wednesday received a message from the chief of police at Memphis, Tennessee, stating that Jerre Conners, a brick layer who carried a card from the union of this city, had been struck and killed by a train at that place. The body of Conners was terribly mangled. Other than this the particulars of the accident are not given. Officials of the local union were notified of the death and Thomas Kittrik, one of the active members of the union here is looking for relatives of the unfortunate man. If it is found that the deceased was a member of the union here the Danville lodge will arrange for the funeral and interment - The Danville Commercial News. Note: Jerre Conners was once a resident of this city and has a number of relatives here now. He is a brother of Tom Conners, a traveling man who lives in Lafayette. Conners left here a little more than a year ago - that is if this is the same man - and there seems little doubt of that. The Conners who lived here was a bricklayer and assisted in building the Davis Livery barn about two years ago. He afterward went to Danville, Ill. He has a wife and children living in the west. Tom Conners, his brother once ran the grocery store in the south part of this city now owned by Murray Hills.-- kbz
