Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal Friday, 8 February 1895

New Ross, Feb. 7—Yesterday evening Charles Connor, son of M. A. Connor, who lives two miles west of here, met with a horrible accident, that may result in his death. He started out to the barn to feed and it was supposed he opened the barn door and five horses rushed out and all passed over him, kicking and trampling him. His head was cruelly crushed and blood was streaming from his nose and ears. His screams attracted the family, who hastened to the spot and picked him up in an unconscious condition and carried him to the house. Dr. Bronaugh was summoned and from the first pronounced the case as a critical one. He was unconscious part of the time but rallied sufficiently to tell how it happened. He is a little better this morning, but suffering much pain with little hopes of his recovery.
