Cook - Ellora Marsh

Source: Waynetown Despatch Friday, January 9, 1903

Mrs. Wm Cook, who recently moved from here to Danville, Ill., was seriously injured by jumping from a window in that city last Sunday afternoon. She and another lady were cleaning clothing with gasoline. A match which had fallen from a pocket was stepped on and ignited, causing an explosion of gasoline. The room was on the second floor and the flames prevented exit by the stairway. Mrs. Cook rushed to the window and jumped, falling on her head and shoulders. Her left arm was broken, her back hurt, with internal injuries, the extent of which are yet unknown. Miss Minnie Bush visited her Wednesday and stated that her condition is regarded very serious. Mrs. Cook is well known here, having kept boarders in the house now occupied by Miss Bush. The other lady in the accident let herself down from the window sill her arm’s length and then dropped, sustaining a broken ankle.—Veedersburg Record

Mrs. Cook is a sister of Perry Marsh and has many relatives and friends in this vicinity who will learn with regret of her misfortune.

Note: Do not know if she passed or not - anyone know?
