Mrs. Nancy Wyatt Cook, daughter of Johnson and Matilda Wyatt, was born Sept. 7, 1833, in Clermont County, Ohio, and died at her home three miles north of Darlington at 11:20 p.m., Dec. 11, 1901, aged 68 years, 2 months and 3 days.

She was united in marriage to William Henry Cook Nov. 15, 1854. From this union were born ten children, Edwin A., John B., William Tell, Eugene J., Ulysses G., Everett J., Hattie E., George H., Ellen M. and Mattie L. All the children are living and all are married except George H. Twenty four grandchildren have been born and are living today.

In her home Mrs. Cook was ever a faithful wife and loving mother, willing at all times to do her part for the happiness of her loved ones. She united with the M. E. Church in Cincinnati in 1845, and always tried to live a consistent Christian life. She has long been a consistent and active member of the Potato Creek Church and many can testify to the good words of advice and the many prayers offered by her in their behalf. In her home she for many years maintained the family altar whereby she exerted a great Christian influence over her own family. During her last illness she was always patient, although she well knew she must soon leave this earth. She was cheerful and had a kind word for all during the intervals that when her sufferings were not so intense she was heard to quote passages of scripture and verses of songs which proved to all her readiness to obey the call of the Master, and when the time came for her departure, she bid farewell to all things earthly and passed to that blessed immortality from which no traveler ever returned.

The funeral services were held at the late residence conducted by Rev. John D. Krewel on Dec. 13. The day was very unpleasant, raining all day, yet her remains were followed by a large number of sorrowing friends and neighbors. As the procession entered the I. O. O. F. Cemetery, the rain ceased falling and the sun shown brightly for a few minutes which seemed to say surely a good woman is dead. -s
