Again God in his infinite power has seen fit to call away from our midst another beloved sister and cousin, Mrs. Mary E. Coons, wife of W. S. Coons. Mrs. Coons was born Sept. 19, 1854, and departed this life March 15, 1898. She was forty three years and some months old. The funeral took place at the family residence in Highland, Thursday, March 17, at 10 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Trick, and the remains were laid to rest in the Masonic Cemetery. She was afflicted with that dread disease, consumption, for several years. She was married to W. S. Coons about eighteen years ago last January. To them were born two boys, Charley and Albert. Charley passed over the river about twelve years ago. She knew that she could not get well and had her husband to arrange everything. She said it was all right if it was the Lord’s will to call her home, she was ready to go. She told them who she wanted to preach her funeral and how she wanted to be laid away. When her friends gathered around the coffin to take a last look at all that remained of the woman they could not realize that she had lived and suffered death, but looked as one fresh from the hands of God, waiting for the breath of life. It is hard to think that one is just getting ready to live when they have to lie down by the roadside to rest before her journey is completed here on earth. God knows best. It will teach us the awful lesson that death is sure and life is uncertain. We will all endeavor to so live that we shall meet her in the great beyond.  She leaves a husband, son, father, mother, four sisters and two brothers to mourn her loss. Mourn not for we know that thou art gone to dwell with our dear Lord and what is your loss is her gain. May she rest in peace and may her pure white soul forever dwell with the good angel who took her by the hand and wandered away in the bowers of eternal summer. -s

Mary Coons, wife of W. S. Coons, was born Sept. 16, 1854, was married to W. S. Coons, Jan. 4, 1880, and died March 15, 1898. She left a husband and one little boy, mother, father, brothers and sisters to mourn for her, but their loss is her eternal gain. She had suffered for a long time with that dread disease, consumption, but in all of her affliction she never murmured nor complained. Her faith was strong in her Savior. She was a kind wife and loving mother. She is not lost but only gone before. We are only waiting when we shall meet her where parting will be no more. -s
