Sarah Cowan died early this morning at the residence of Martha Watts near Smartsburg at the advanced age of 87 years. Death was due to old age and heart trouble. The funeral will occur at Shannondale tomorrow at 1 o’clock. The deceased was born at Perrysville, Ky, Nov 26th, 1806 and has been a resident of Montgomery County for many years. – transcribed by kbz

Mrs. Sarah Cowan died last night at the home of Martha Watts, in Smartsburg, of general decline. The funeral occurs at Shannondale tomorrow afternoon at one o’clock. Mrs. Cowan was born in Perrysville, Ky., November 26, 1806.
