Ronald E. Cornett passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021. He was 88 years old.
Ron retired from Allison Transmission, division of General Motors, after 30 years of employment. He graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1951. Drafted into the Army in 1953, he spent time in Fort Still, Oklahoma.
Born July 18, 1932 in Ladoga, Indiana, he was the son of Loyal Cornett and Martha Vice. He married Carolyn Shelley on Sept. 1, 1981. She preceded him in death.
He has two sons, Reg Cornett of Indianapolis and Cam Cornett of Noblesville.
Known affectionately as “the mayor of Rocky Ridge golf club,” his sense of humor and love of life brought a smile to all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Avenue, Crawfordsville, from 11 AM to 1 PM Friday, July 9. Services will begin at 1 PM, followed by interment at the New Ross Cemetery.
