HAVEN COUGER

THORNTOWN – Haven W. “Buck” Couger, 78, of Thorntown, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Witham Hospital at Lebanon. He had been a patient 10 days. He was a member of the Christian Church at Thorntown and was a veteran of World War I. Mr. Couger was a graduate of Thorntown High School and played on the basketball team. He was employed 21 years at the Thorntown Serum plant and at the Stewart-Warner Co. of Lebanon. He retired in 1963. Mr. Couger was also employed at the Western Boone Community School Corp. Born March 29, 1898, he was a son of Daniel and Ella Taylor Couger of Thorntown. He was married Oct. 9, 1926, to Lena Bridwell at Indianapolis. Survivors are two brothers, Jess of Thorntown and DeVon of Indianapolis. A sister preceded him in death. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Russell & Hitch Funeral Home at Thorntown with the Rev. Don Hainer and the Rev. D. W. Stackhouse officiating. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Friday. – jlr
