Death of Mrs. "Sarah" COWAN -- Mrs. Catherine Cowan died at her home on E. Green St on Saturday last and was interred on Monday afternoon. Funeral services at ME Church conducted by Rev. Claud Travis. Mrs. Cowan whose maiden name was Sarah Catherine Crist was born at Liberty Indiana, Dec 16, 1830. She was married to Aaron K. Cowan Sept 7, 1853. To this union 5 children were born of whom the following survive: Mrs. Ellen Whittington of Emporia, KS; Mrs. Clara Hodgkin; Goerge and Florence of this place. For several years Mrs. Cowan had been an invalid. Among those attending the funeral were Mrs. Lavina Mauck and daughter Virginia of Crawfordsville; Leander Crist of Thorntown; Wm. Snipes, wife and daughter Mame of Plainfield; Messrs. Lee and Claude Crist of New Market and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Wymore of Marshall. - kbz

Mrs. Sarah Cowan died at her residence on East Green Stret, Saturday evening, Feb 10, after a long illness. Sarah V (sic) Crist was born in 1830 and was married to Aaron Cowan in 1853. She was a devoted Christian, having united with the ME Church early in life. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2:30 in the ME Church with Rev. Claude Travis. Interment in Presbyterian Cemetery. - kbz
