NEW RICHMOND – Mrs. Elfleda Cox, a New Richmond resident 33 years, died at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. She had been ill the last six weeks and hospitalized eight days. Born Dec. 20, 1897 at Sheridan, she was a daughter of Newton and Ida Ellen Emery. She was educated in Sheridan and was a member of the Friends Church there. She married Orville M. Cox on March 26, 1919 at Sheridan. Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Gilmour of St. Louis, Mrs. Alice Heavilon of Mooresville, Mrs. Betty J Allen of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Ruthanna Oppy of New Richmond; three sons, Howard C. of Indianapolis, Paul of Darlington and James W. of New Richmond; an aunt, Clara Stanley of Carmel, and 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Helms Funeral Home in Linden, Rev, Arthur Schenck officiating. Burial will be in New Richmond Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. – jlr
