MYRTLE (Merty) BELL SPRY COX

Wingate - Mrs. Merty Bell Cox, 81, died at 3:25 p.m. Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Russell Mitchell, near Wingate. She had been in failing health the past three years and in serious condition eight weeks. Mrs. Cox had lived with her daughter several years. Born Nov. 16 1877, near Darlington, she was a daughter of James H. and Priscilla Lewis Spry. She married James B. Cox Oct. 26, 1898, at Darlington. Mrs. Cox was a member of the Crawfordsville Nazarene Church and had lived her entire adult life in or near Crawfordsville. She attended school at Darlington. Surviving are four sons, Lester and Oakel, both of Crawfordsville, Herbert of Indianapolis and Cecil of Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. Flossie Burroughs and Mrs. Evelyn Keys, both of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Edna Mitchell of Wingate; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Darrough of Shannondale and Mrs. Henrietta Busenbark of Crawfordsville; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Servies Funeral Home at Waynetown with Rev. Carl Nisbet, pastor of the Wingate Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in the Shannondale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home
