Will Cuppy and son Marion were in town the early part of the week. They attended a family reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Koch at Greenwood Sunday. Marion recently returned from France where he saw active service with the Keystone division in a machine gunsquad. He was in the fighting at Chateau Thierry and Argonne Forest, but escaped without a scratch. He served 3 year sin the PA National Guard and was with Pershing on the Mexican Border, which he says was a picnic compared with France. Will Cuppy has bought a farm near Lancaster PA which will be in charge of his son, Hazlett who was also in France but not at the front. -- typed by kbz

The Rev. WT Cuppy, who died at his home in Waveland, Sat Feb 7, at 6:45 p.m. has had an unusual career. He was born in Sullivan Co Indiana March 10, 1840. His boyhood and early manhood were spent upon the farm. Ambitions for educational advantages not obtainable near home, he entered the old Terre Haute Academy, where he was initiated into the Greek and higher mathematics, and later, studied two years at Shurtleff College at Upper Alton, Ill. He united with the Baptist church at the age of 17 and was married to Martha A. MARTS at age 22. He entered the ministry in 1870, and immediately upon his ordination accepted a pastorate. During the 30 years of his ministerial labors, he served as pastor of 20 different churches, located in 8 different counties. His longest pastorate, with Freedom Church, was for a period of 16 consecutive years; and had positive assurance during his last illness that he would again be called to the pastorate of this church for the present year. He was for more than 10 years the pastor of a church in Sullivan Co, and for 9 he served Heidles' Prairie Church. Two other churches he served for 8 years; two each for 6 years; (sorry, the rest is gone)   -- typed by kbz
