Cross - Delilah Totton

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal, 5 March 1897

Mrs. Delilah Cross, wife of William Cross, died at her home Wednesday morning: Feb 24. She had been in poor health all winter, but had a severe attack of lung fever for a week, but at last an angel from Heaven bore her spirit home to glory, where sickness is unknown and sorrow and death never come. She was a kind and loving mother. Though she was loved by all who knew her, though she has been in poor health all winter her pleasant smile and loving words will "be missed. When her children go to her old home they can soon realize that home is not what it was when mother was there. She leaves five children, Mrs. Harriet Branagin, Mrs. Elizabeth Ermentrout, Mrs. Anna Royer, Mrs. Martha Conrad, Mrs, Jane Driskill and a large host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Her husband died about six years ago. She has been a member of the M. E. church for forty-five years. But mourn not for we know that thou art gone to dwell with our dear Load who doeth all things well. Dear Mother we must lay thee in the cold and silent grave but thy memory will be cherished till we see thy heavenly face, Interment at the Ermentrout cemetery. - thanks to Kim H
