Manervia Jane Cross, 59, of Rt. 2, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday in University Hospital at Indianapolis. She was the widow of James Henry Cross, who died Aug. 22, 1966. Mrs. Cross was a native of Kentucky, born March 20, 1912 to James and Ada Rush Oaks. She was educated in Kentucky schools and married Mr. Cross there on July 16, 1929. Surviving are two sons, John B. Cross of Lafayette and Lee Cross of Rt. 2, Jamestown; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy M. Barber of Thorntown, Mrs. Anna Bridges of Danville, Ill., Mrs. Mary Hughes of Ludlow, Ill., Mrs. Susan Hammond of Stockwell and Mrs. Jane Glass of Lafayette; five brothers, Elmer of New Ross, Leslie and Vernon of Ladoga, Otis of Yountsville and Gaffer Oaks of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Conkright of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Susan Mason of Ladoga, and 17 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. A son, daughter and brother are deceased. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Powers Funeral Home, with Rev. Wendall Raney officiating and interment in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today. – jlr
