The following is a brief sketch of Mrs. Susan Crowder whose funeral took place here on Saturday Mrs. Susan M. (note: Bassett) Crowder was born in Bracken County, KY in February 1834 and was married in 1852 (note: 24 March 1853) to Henry Crowder at Waynetown. She came to this state with her parents in early childhood. She removed to Gas City in 1897. She leaves six children, two boys and four girls, Mrs. PE Wheeler, Mrs. MM Jolly, Miss Margaret and Mrs. Will Jones of Minnesota, Charles Crowder of Marion and Will Crowder of this city. She was raised in the belief of the Baptist Church but after her marriage she united with the Christian Church of which congregation she was a consistent member until her death.
