Mary Edythe Cunningham; 75, died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cutts Rest Home on the Traction Road. She had been in failing health since February 1961. A daughter of Joseph and Lida McDaniel, she was born in this community Feb. 28, 1887. She was a 1906 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. She married Walter Cunningham here April 25, 1908. She was a member of a pioneer Montgomery County family. Her father, a Civil War veteran, was on the GAR advisory committee for the Soldiers and Sailors courthouse monument. Mrs. Cunningham was a member of the First Christian Church, Women’s Relief Corps and Highland Social Club. Surviving are five sons, Mac, Ralph, Jerry, Robert and Joe Cunningham, and two daughters, Mildred Stillings and Jean Marthey, all of Crawfordsville; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Lillie Williams of Waynetown. Preceding Mrs. Cunningham in death besides her husband were four brothers, a grandchild and great-grandchild. Funeral services are announced for 3 p.m. Friday at the Hunt and Son Funeral Home. Rev. Eugene Ogrod, minister at the First Christian Church, will officiate, and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
