Relatives here have received word of the death of Mrs. John W. CUPPY in Lomita, California on Christmas Day. She was the daughter of Dr Marion and Mary Virginia Wiley and was born in Indianapolis Sept 12, 1870. After the death of Dr. Wiley, Mrs. Wiley married the late FN Johnson so Mattie's childhood was mostly spent in Waveland. She married Mr. Cuppy on Oct 20, 1892. She is survived by the husband and four children: Mrs. Virginia SHRINER of Terre Haute; Mrs. John KOCH of of Manila, Marion and Hazlett of Norristown PA and 7 granddaughters; also by one step brother, John A. Johnson and two half brothers, Dr. Tom Johnson and TN Johnson. Burial in Lomita. The daughters went to Lomita to be present at the funeral. Source: Waveland Indepenent, Sept 28, 1917 - Mrs. John W.
