LINDEN – Mrs. Mary Helen Newkirk, 79, of Linden, died at 5:50 p.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where she had been a patient four weeks. Born in Montgomery County, Mrs. Newkirk had been a life resident of the Linden area. In 1918 she was married here to J. Franklin “Frank” Newkirk, who died in 1971. She was a member of Linden Kirkpartick United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William (Virginia) Simons of West Lafayette; two sons, G. Max Newkirk of Lafayette and Lewis F. Newkirk of Darlington; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Parrish and Mrs. Henritta Sense, both of Lafayette; and one brother, Lewis Stephenson of Linden. – jlr
