CORNELIA MUNN NORRIS

Source: Saturday Evening Argus, May, 29, 1883

Mrs. Cornelia Norris, wife of Professor Norris, of Wabash College, died on yesterday afternoon after a sickness of ten days.  Mrs. Norris was the daughter of Thomas C. and Grace Munns, of Oxford, Ohio.  She was born February 22nd 1845, and was in her thirty-eighth year.  She was a graduate of the Oxford Female Seminary, and was a fine Hebrew scholar, having had careful training in this branch under Dr. Buchanan, President of the Oxford Seminary.  In her 17th year she united with the Methodist church of Oxford of which she remained a member till 1877, when she united by letter with Center Presbyterian church of Crawfordsville.  On December 16th 1875 she was married to Professor Norris, and in 1876 they moved to Crawfordsville where today a large circle of friends mourn her death and sympathize with the husband, mother, sister and two little girls in their great loss.  The remains were taken to Oxford Ohio this morning and were accompanied by Profs. Coulter and Campbell.  The interment will take place Thursday.  The students in a body escorted the remains to the depot where they formed a line, removing their hats as the train moved out, thus expressing sympathy for the professor in his bereavement
