Note: According to papemortuary.com James A. Neal was born 20 September 1875 in Mellott to John Neal and Elizabeth Houser - he died 12 August 1951 and is buried at Mt. Hope. Wife was Nellie Blakley who died 27 October 1939

Covington — Funeral services for James Alva (Jim) Neal, 75, who died Sunday night at 10:45 o'clock following a heart attack, will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Aug. 16, (CDT). Rev. Paul Ingram, pastor of the Fifth Street Church of Christ, will officiate and services will be held in the church. The Hillsboro Masonic Lodge 385 will conduct graveside rites and burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery here. The body will remain at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral home, where friends may call, until an hour before the church services. Mr. Neal was a life resident of Fountain county born west of Mellott. He had been a real estate agent in Covington for 23 years and prior to that time was a farmer.   --typed by Walt W

Covington --- James Alva Neal, 75, well known real estate agent of Covington, died at about 10:45 o'clock Sunday night while in an ambulance en route to St. Elizabeth's hospital in Danville, Ill., following a heart attack. Mr. Neal suffered the heart attack at about 9 o'clock. Born Sept. 20, 1875, west of Mellott, Mr. Neal was the son of John Neal and Elizabeth Houser Neal. He was married to Nell Blakeley, in Covington, who preceded him in death in 1939. Mr. Neal resided for many years on a farm near Mellott. He also did much carpentry work. Moving to Covington 23 years ago, he had been a real estate agent during his residence there. Mr. Neal was a member of Hillsboro lodge No. 385, of Masonry, in Hillsboro for 41 years. Survivors include the son, William A. Neal, living in Los Angeles; a grandson, and one sister, Mrs. O'Rilla Stockdale, of Wingate. The body is at the Bodine and Shelby funeral home, where it will remain until the arrival of the son from California. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, awaiting the son's arrival.   --typed by Walt W
