Mrs. Johanna Caroline Niestadt, one of the best known women of the city, died at the home of her son, Herman Niestadt, 114 1/2 south Washington street, at 4 o'clock Sunday morning. Mrs. Niestadt was one of five persons in an auto wreck on April 11 just west of Romney when two machines came together with Mrs. Niestadt were her son and daughter-in-law, while the other machine was occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd F. Vandnyn. Mrs. Niestadt suffered a broken collarbone but was not considered to be seriously injured but on Saturday night she suffered a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Niestadt had been a resident of this city since 1879. She was born on March 15, 1852, in Saxony, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Zosel. She was married to Herman Neistadt who died forty-two years ago. Deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She is survived by one son, Herman Niestadt, of this city; a brother, Charles Zosel, of Canton, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Haas and Mrs. Julia Egan of Bloomington, Ill., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from the Proffitt funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of Rev. D. Heitmeyer. Interment will be at Oak hill cemetery.
