Covington - Myrtle Newman, 91, of Covington died at 6:55 a.m. Monday in Covington Manor Health Center where she had been a patient about one month. Mrs. Newman was a member of Osborne Prairie Christian Church, Win One Class of Covington United Methodist Church, Fountain County Farm Bureau, Fountain County Garden Club and Troy Home Economica Club. She was born Aug 26, 1887 at Veedersburg, a daughter of John and Samantha Romine Labaw. She married Clarence Newman who died in February 1959. Surviving are a son, Kenneth Newman, Rt 3, Covington; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Dorothy) Armstrong of Chester, Va; and Mrs. Charles (Alberta) Fogg of Bradenton, Fla; a sister, Martha LaBaw of LA; 9 grandchildren and 11 greats. She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and three sisters. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in DeVerter Funeral Home at Covington with Rev. Robert Karn and Rev. Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial in Osborne Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the FH 2-4 or 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. - kbz
