Bloomingdale -- Claude Newnum, age 70, of Bloomingdale Rt 1, father of Mrs. Samuel (Eleanor) Stambaugh of Veedersburg Rt 2, died at 4 p.m. Wed (Nov 22, 1967). He was born Feb 28, 1897 in Liberty Twp, Parke County, the son of Joseph and Anna Carr Newnum. He was married Dec 8, 1917 to Sylvia Groves, who survives. Surviving, in addition to the wife are: two son, George of Bloomingdale Rt 1, and Carl at home: four daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Ophie Mae) Mac of Yeddo; Miss Selda (Margaret) Newnum of Bloomingdale Rt 1; Mrs. Stambaugh of Veedersburg Rt 2; and Mrs. Anna Lindley of Bloomingdale Rt 1; 27 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and one step great grandchild. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Maude Cheesman and one son, Everett. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sun at the Tudor Funeral Home in Rockville. The Rev. Charles Bridgewaters officiated and burial was in Rush Creek Cemetery, near Tangier. - kbz
