Veedersburg, Ind - Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Thursday at the Dickerson Funeral Home for Harvey Newnum, Jr. 62 of 316 Keeling St. He died at 2 a.m. Est Monday Feb 27, 1984 at his home. Death was attributed to natural causes according to Fountain County Coroner Robert Maus. The Rev. Max Paddock will officiate. Burial will be in Centennial Cemetery on US Rt 41. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. EST Wednesday at the funeral home. Newnum had owned & operated Harvey's Tavern in Veedersburg for a number of years, retiring recently. He was a vet. of WWII. He was a member of the Covington Post of VFW and Veedersburg Chapter American Legion. Born April 27, 1921 in Urbana Ill he was the son of Harvey Harlen and Daisy Smith Newnum. He had been a Veedersburg resident most of his life. Survivors include a son, Michael of Veedersburg; 3 daughters, Pamela Kay Moore of Algonquin, Ill; Karen Ann Kirts of Danville, Ill; and Staci Shawn Newnum of Veedersburg; two sisters, Levada Mears of Veedersburg and Martha Abernathy of Covington and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and grandson.
