Newton - Lema McMullen

ROACHDALE – Lema Newton, 86, of Anderson, a former Roachdale resident, died Tuesday in Community Hospital at Anderson. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Newton was born in New Maysville on Feb. 4, 1890, a daughter of C. T. and Mary Emma Crosby McMullen. She married Harry Newton on Aug. 25, 1909. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John (Wilma) Sellers of Anderson; a sister, Mrs. Murell Dixon of Indianapolis; a grandchild; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Perkins Funeral home here with burial in Roachdale Cemetery. -– jlr
