The deceased was born in East Tennessee July 9, 1808 and when 18 years of age removed with his parents to Union County, Indiana where they resided until 1831 when they removed to Montgomery County and settled upon the farm where he has since resided. His father died one year after the family's arrival in this county. September 3, 1837 he was married to Miss Rebecca LaFollette, by whom he had five children, four of whom survive him, three daughters and one son, C.T. Nicely. His first wife having died, he married Mrs. Evelyn Burroughs in October 1870. She survives him. He has been a successful farmer and leaves his widow and children well provided with this world's goods and an untarnished name. The funeral took place Monday at 3 o'clock.
