COVINGTON — Edward Fred Nicklas, 77, of Covington, director and stockholder of the Covington Grain Co. and retired farmer, died suddenly today in his home here. He was a member of Osborne Prairie Church. Born Oct. 23, 1896, at Danville, Ill., he was a son of Christian and Emma Shoupe Nicklas. He married Lulu Ann Thomas on April 20, 1921. She survives. Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Martha Cronkhite of Greencastle and Mrs. Grace Warrick of South Bend; and a brother, Robert of Covington. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here with the Rev. Robert Karn officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. --typed by Walt W
