Waynetown - Irene Nixon, 81, of Rt. 1 Waynetown died at 10:45 a.m. Monday in Williamsburg Nursing Home at Crawfordsville. She was a bookkeeper for Jackson & Weber Farm Management Co from 1956 until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of the Christian Union Church where she was organist and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau. She was a graduate of Danville, Ill HS and Danville business college. Mrs. Nixon was born in Fountain County August 30, 1906 to Walter and Iva May Boner Schafer (Shafer). She married on Dec 23, 1934 to James Nixon. He died Dec 13, 1980. She is survived by a son, Tom Newlin of Crawfordsville; a nephew, Phillip Schafer of Danville, Ill; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A brother, Paul is deceased. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with Rev. Dorman Winger officiating. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
