Pfc Charles (Red) Northcutt 22 son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Northcutt, 911 Tuttle Ave is reported missing in action in Korea. Pfc Northcutt's parents received a telegram Sunday from the Department of Defense in Washington stating their son had been missing in action sine July 20, In service with the 3rd Combat Engineers, Pfc Northcutt was sent to Korea after having been on duty in Japan since December 1948. He enlisted in September 1948. Overseas service began after basic training at Ft Knox, Ky. His first assignment in Japan was in Tokyo where he served several months. He was on duty at Kushu, Japan when transferred to the Korean war zone. Pfc Northcutt known to his friends and associated as Red Northcutt, is the second Crawfordsville man to e reported missing in Korea. The first casualty of the Korean War was Lt. Raymond Edward Pearson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Pearson, RFD 2, Crawfordsville. The telegram received by his parents from the Dept of Defense stated that Pearson has been missing in action since July 14. Lt. Pearson, a field artillery officer was in service with the headquarters battery of the 63rd Field Artillery. He was sent overseas in January.
