Sanford E. Nutt, 69, died at Culver Hospital at 1 a.m. Friday. He had been in failing health for the past two years. Born Jan. 27, 1893, south of Crawfordsville, he was the son of Aaron and Rachel M. Stuart Nutt. He was married in 1920 to Faye E. Wilkinson at Wabash. Mr. Nutt was employed by the Producers Dairy for about 30 years. At the same time, he was operating his father’s farm south of the city until 1924. After moving to Crawfordsville, Mr. and Mrs. Nutt were the supervisors of the old Children’s Home at the west edge of the city for 13 ½ years. Still later he was employed by the city until he was retired in 1958. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church and the Eagles Lodge. At one time he was a member of Company B of the National Guard. Survivors include the wife; two daughters, Mrs. John L. Bir and Mrs. Homer Wilkinson; four foster daughters, Mrs. George King Jr., Mrs. Dale Buser, Mrs. Andrey Hutchins of Hillsboro and Mrs. Irvin Kunkle of Beech Grove, and a brother, Walter Nutt of Crawfordsville, as well as cousins and nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Nutt. Funeral services will be held at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, with Rev. Clarence Loveland in charge. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday.
