Jesse Verl "Jack" O'Neal, 67, of 1122 Tenth, Covington, died Sunday (Sept. 5, 1971) at the Logansport State Hospital. He had been a patient a year and had been ill for seven years. Born June 5, 1904, in Queens City, Mo., he was the son of James Albert and Lucy Ann Bowler O'Neal. His father was an evangelist. He married Alpha Morris in Mittonville, Ark., Jan. 2, 1924. She survives. A self-employed excavator, he was a member of the Seventh Street Church of Christ in Covington. He attended schools in Iowa and Nebraska. Survivors also include two sons, Jerald of Covington and Donna James of Kingman; three daughters, Mrs. Peggy Merryman of Veedersburg, Mrs. Melva Melvin of Waynetown and Mrs. Mescal Simmeral of Covington; two brothers, Emery of Grand Junction, Iowa, and Everett of Calkum, Wash., three sisters, Mrs. Gladys Moore of Nyssa, Ore., Mrs. Icel Northup of Elm Creek, Neb., and Mrs. Kleo York of Tacoma, Wash.; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services Wednesday at the Seventh Street Church of Christ, with the Rev. Derald Ailes officiating. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.   --typed by Walt W
