Russell E. Oatess, 58, of 510 S. Green St., manager here seven years of the Singer Sewing Center, died at 4 p.m. Friday in Culver Hospital. He had been in ill health five years. Born at Star City, Ind., on July 14, 1911, he was a son of William A. and Elizabeth Ann Rudicel Oatess. He was married at Royal Center, Ind., on April 29, 1934 to Dorothy Pufahl, who survives. Mr. Oatess was a member of the First United Methodist Church and of Masonic Lodge 70 of Rochester, Ind. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Beth Ann, a student at Purdue University; two sons, William E. and Donald E. of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, and four sisters, Mrs. Esther Abbott of Star City, Mrs. Clara Wertz of Convoy, Ohio, Mrs. Nellie Strauch of Logansport and Mrs. Mary Silveus of Silver Lake. One sister is deceased. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday. Masonic rites are set there at 8 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Frank Little will be the minister, and burial will be in Kline Cemetery at Royal Center.--waw
