James Everett Ogle, 63, well known farmer living southeast of Newtown and former head of the Newtown and Mellott Schools, died at 2 o'clock Wednesday morning of last week in Rochester, Minn., where he entered the Mayo Brother's Clinic on May 5. He had been in ill health for more than two years, suffering with a serious heart ailment and proxitis. Death is thought to have been due to a heart attack. Mr. Ogle was born Aug. 8, 1876, on the farm on which he lived at the time of his death. He was the son of Samuel and Henrietta McClure Ogle. His early education was received in the Fountain County Schools and he graduated from the State Normal College in Terre Haute in 1900. He held a life certificate as a teacher. He taught for a number of years, including the principalship of the Newtown and Mellott Schools, retiring as a teacher about 10 years ago. With the exception of a few years spent operating a ranch near Monte Vista, Colo., he had spent his entire life in the community in which he was born. Mr. Ogle was united in marriage Nov. 29, 1900, to Miss Blanche Carpenter, at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Carpenter, near Mellott. He was an elder in the Newtown Presbyterian Church. Surviving besides the widow is one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Hazelgrove, of Lafayette, and one granddaughter, Karla Hazelgrove. Mrs. Hazelgrove was with her mother when news came of Mr. Ogle's sudden death. Two sisters are also living: Mrs. Frank Taylor of Beaumont, Texas, and Mrs. Helbig of Roseburg, Oregon. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church in Newtown with Rev. Claude C. Ward of Rockville officiating. The body was taken to the church at 1 o'clock and lie in state until the hour of services. Interment was made in the Newtown cemetery with Coffing and Robinson in charge. --typed by Walt W
