Funeral services for Leverett R. Olin, who was killed in a highway mishap near Plymouth have been set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Grossman Funeral Home in Argos. Rev. Robert Hansen Will officiate. Olin, 77, was a passenger in a car involved in a collision Tuesday with a truck at a Marshall County intersection. His brother, Leland, was the driver of the auto. Leland was injured, but not hospitalized. The Argos Masonic Lodge will conduct memorial services simultaneously with the rites at the funeral home. Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery near Elmdale at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Arthur Schenck, retired Methodist minister from Darlington will be in charge. Leverett Olin was born April 17, 1892, in Montgomery County. He had lived the past 20 years in the Argos community, coming from South Bend, where he also lived 20 years. The son of Leverett W. and Effie Swank Olin, he married Mary M. Crowder April 1, 1916, in Montgomery County. He had been retired the past 15 years. He formerly was a Studebaker Corp. forman at South Bend. A sulky race horse enthusiast, he bred and raced horses. Olin was a member of the Argos United Methodist Church, Argos Masonic Lodge, South Bend Scottish Rite and American Trotting Association. Surviving are a son, Kenneth R. Olin of Argos; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Merritt of New Richmond and Mrs. Ruth Crowder of Waukegan, Mich., and the brother, Leland Olin of New Richmond.

A rural Crawfordsville man was injured and his brother killed Tuesday morning when their car collided with a farm truck at the intersection of two Marshall County roads about 4 miles south of Plymouth. Leverett Orin, 77, of Rt. 2, Argos, died in a Plymouth hospital when he was taken for treatment after the mishap. Leland Olin, 73, Rt. 4, Crawfordsville, sustained abrasions of his left knee and right hand and minor facial cuts in the mishap. He was not hospitalized. Marshall County Deputy Sheriff Jess Hartung said a car driven by Leland Olin collided with a farm truck at the intersection which is atop a small knoll. Deputy Hartung said the truck driver reported stopping at the intersection and then pulling out. The truck driver, Leonel Gomez, 23, Rt. 4, Plymouth, was ticketed on a charge of failure to yield the right of way. He sustained a whiplash injury. Also riding in the truck were Francisco Salazar, 18, Rt. 4, Plymouth, who was hospitalized with a lacerated left ear, multiple abrasions and a possible concussion, and Gilbert Gonzales, 19, Rt. 4, Plymouth, who sustained a small cut on his head.
