George Oliver, aged 42, died this morning at 10:40 of cancer of the liver, after an illness of six months. He was born in KY and was a slave until the great emancipation by Lincoln. He had lived here as a quiet, industrious citizen for 18 years. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Masonic Orders, of the Household of Ruth and Order of Eastern Star. - transcribed by kbz

George Oliver, aged forty two years, died last Monday at 10:40 o’clock of cancer of the liver, after an illness of six months. He was born in Kentucky and was a slave until the great emancipation by Lincoln. He had lived here as a quiet, industrious citizen for eighteen years. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Masonic orders, of the Household of Ruth and of the order of the Eastern Star. -s
