John A. Oliver was born in Montgomery County, Indiana, July 3, 1860 and departed this life, Oct 3, 1922, age 62 years, 2 months and 24 days. He was married Nov 2, 1883 to Alice Mitchell, daughter of Joel and Lucinda Mitchell, who preceded him in death 10 years ago. To this union was born five children, Clarence and Mrs. Jessie Delaney of Indianapolis, Mrs. Ethel Keller of Logansport and Nelson of Griffith, Indiana. Viola died in infancy. John, as he was best known, spent the greater part of his life in this County, living on a small farm near the Shades until about 9 years ago he moved to Waveland. John was a member of the United Brethren Church and lived a devoted Christian life. Besides the four children, he leaves two granddaughters, Robert and Naomi Keller. God in his wisdom took away, a life that was freely given and tho the body slumbers here, the soul is safe in Heaven. - transcribed by kbz
