New Richmond, Aug 13 - Funeral services will be conducted in the Christian Church here Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock for George A. Oppy, 80, retired farmer who died late Sunday night at the home of Thomas Allen, five miles southwest of Russellville. The body will be buried in the local cemetery.
Born near New Richmond, Oct. 8, 1854, Mr. Oppy was a son of Christopher J. and Mary (Whitlatch) Oppy. He first married Mattie Miller who died 47 years ago and then Sarah E. Young, who died 16 years ago. He was a member of the Christian Church here and spent all of his life in Montgomery County most of the time near here.
Survivors are three sons and three daughters: William E.S. Oppy and Harry Oppy both of San Luis Obispo, Cal; Ernest R. Oppy, Mrs. Grace Miller and Mrs. Dora E. Blacker, all of Crawforsville and mrs. Bertha Allen, Judson. He also leaves on sister, Mrs. Mary J. Westfall Romney; and two half brothers, Frank and Edward Oppy, both of New Richmond. - kbz
