NEW RICHMOND—Mrs. Bertha Oswalt, 76, a life resident of this community, died at 6 a.m. Sunday in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette after a long illness. Mrs. Oswalt was a member of the New Richmond Christian Church and its Ladies Aid, New Richmond OES Chapter 377, Juno Temple No. 333 Pythian Sisters at Wingate and the American Legion Auxiliary. For 15 years she was a telephone operator here and for 10 years she worked in the office of Dr. H. D. Kendall. She was born April 24, 1891, to Noah and Ella Kirkpatrick. Surviving is a niece, Mrs. James Lohorn of Wingate. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Helms Funeral Home in Linden with Rev. Scott Comrie officiating. Burial will be in New Richmond Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
