Mrs. Effie Catherine Owens, twin sister of Miss Cora Hyten, died at the latters home here Tuesday afternoon, she would have been 72 years of age Sunday. Mrs. Owens, who had made her home in Russellville since 1921, was born near Parkersburg August 22, 1867, a daughter of Dr. William and Melinda Hyten. She was married to William Owens February 13, 1893. He died in 1912. Mrs. Owens had been in poor health for three years and her death was attributed to a complication of diseases. She was a member of the Russellville Christian church. Survivors include the sister, Miss Hyten of this place, a brother, Hillman Hyten of Lebanon and several nieces and nephews. A daughter Verda Dell, died in 1929. In the spring of 1921, she went to live with her sister, Mary Clay Goff and family, moving with them to Russellville in the fall. Again her home was broken by death. She went to live with Miss Mollie Harbison and while there was taken suddenly ill and removed to Culver Hospital. When able to leave she was taken to the home of her sister, Miss Cora Hyten. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Russellville. Rev. Hartling in charge.
