WINGATE- Austin Oxley, 80, suffered a fatal heart attack at 8 p.m. Sunday at his home in Wingate. He was a carpenter and had lived in the Wingate community his entire life. Born Feb. 25, 1878, in Elmdale, he was the son of James and Joanna Delling Oxley. He was married Aug. 9, 1903 in Stone Bluff to Wreatha Darling. Mrs. Oxley has been a reporter for The Journal-Review many years. Mr. Oxley was a member of the Wingate Methodist Church and a charter member of the fire department. He attended school at Wingate. Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Ratcliff of Crawfordsville; two grandchildren, Mrs. Argyle Jackson of Indianapolis and Master John Oxley of Winfield, La.; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. at Servies Funeral Home at Waynetown with Rev. R. T. Luddin of Hamlet officiating, assisted by Rev. Delbert Smith, pastor of the Wingate Methodist Church. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. - thanks to Kim H
