WINGATE — Mrs. Nora Frances Oxley died unexpectedly at 5:15 a.m. Friday at the Ben Hur Nursing Home where she had been a patient since Sunday, March 31. She became a patient there after leaving St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette where she had been treated for a broken hip. She was born March 2, 1884, in Montgomery County, the daughter of John and Nancy Lowery Elmore, and was educated in county schools. She married Charles D. Oxley of Wingate in October of 1900. He preceded her in death 1947. She spent her entire married life in Wingate. Mrs. Oxley was a member of the Wingate Methodist Church for many years and of the OES Chapter 336. She received her 50-year pin in 1967. She is survived by a son, Harold J., of Wingate; three grandchildren, Gerald K. of Lafayette, Jay H. of Ft. Gordon, Ga., and Jill at home; one sister, Mrs. Florence Aplesperger of Hammond, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and five sisters. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Servies-Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery at Wingate.

WINGATE — Funeral services for Mrs. Nora Oxley were held Tuesday morning at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. Guy E. Tremaine of Waynetown officiated and Mrs. James Grenard played the organ music of favorite selections including "In the Garden." The pallbearers, who also cared for the flowers, were Wiley Robbins, Ray Bishop, William Marquess, Junior Haas, Clare Meharry and Morris McCulloch. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery at Wingate.
