Smiley - William Louis

William Louis SMILEY was born near Mace, Indiana Jan 28, 1869, the son of Andrew and Mary Bratton Smiley. Following a brief illness he departed this life Nov 29, 1935 at the age of 66 years 10 months and 1 day. With the exception of 3 years in Oklahoma, he spent his entire life in this vicinity in 1889 he was united in marriage to Ursula Conner. He passed away on their 46th wedding anniversary. To this union 4 children were born: Mrs. Forest Perkins of Lebanon, Indiana Byron Smiley and Mrs. Helen Martin of Crawfordsville and Miss Naomi R. Smiley at home. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by two sisters, Miss Margaret Smiley and Mrs. Albert Remley of Crawfordsville; 4 grandchildren, Robert Allen Smiley, Jane Martin, John C. and William F. Perkins of whom he was unusually fond. Mr. Smiley united with the Union Hill Presbyterian Church in 1887 during meetings held by Rev. SF Aikman and still believed in that faith. He was a kind husband and father and a good neighbor. - kbz
